The Eagle and the Wolf : Roman Britain in Turmoil  is a new novel based upon the famous Vindolanda Tablets, which are housed in the British Museum. It is an epic tale in which three great belief systems, Celtic, Romano-Greek and Christian, are juxtaposed against the backdrop of northern Britannia, the edge of the Roman Empire.  The novel commences in AD103 with the receipt of a birthday invitation by Lepidina, wife of the Prefect of the 9th Cohort of Batavians based at Vindolanda. This is the story of what happens next.....does Lepidina go to the birthday party? Visit our Vindolanda Novel page to find details of publication of the novel.
